English learning cannot be simply defined as the study of English grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary. To be good at English is not only to communicate effectively in a right way, but also to know the connotation about the language. The action of

 Introduction
  English learning can not be simply defined as the study of learning English grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary. That’s because the linguistic study is not only about the grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary the three essential factors, but also the cultural edification plays an important role in English learning, so if you want to be good at English, you must focus on the cultural background information of the foreign countries as well, and the students often make mistakes in the English communication, because they lack the sense of cultural. As we all known, the process of study one kind of language is a process of study the culture of the language that you learn. Brown (1987) believed that there are many failure reasons for language learners and the most important point is that the learners didn’t put the cultural edification and linguistic study in the same level. So we can see, to make the students became good at English and have the ability to communicate effectively which needs not only the special filed of English study but also the study of culture background information about the English –spoken countries. So my thesis is talk about the problems about mixing and collision in the communication between the West and East culture and how to solve it in the right way of English teaching.
  Chapter 1 The Culture Education in English Teaching
  The aim of language teaching is to make the students have the ability of communication in the form of writing or in word. The capability of communicate not only needs a right and fluent language but also the proper of the language. And whether the language is proper or not is usually decided by the difference culture between the nations. S. Pit. Carder once said:” When we learn one kind of foreign language, we also need to learn the culture of this language.” But in our country, we often ignore the cultivation of cultural background information and Tran-cultural for a long time and we don’t make our great effort on it. The traditional English teaching has always been focusing on the form of language; the teachers often pay more attention on the cultivation of the pure ability of the language and ignore that there is an intimate relationship between the language and the culture. At the same time, the students in class often rely on teachers excessively which may caused them lack the ability of learning the language and because of today’s education style, it may caused them rarely to read the foreign literature but spend most of their time on remembering the words or exercise. So they always can’t quite understand the real meaning when they faced with the sentences or passages; and will not achieve the real aim of using the linguistic. For example, we often see “I am yellow” on some American cars, which puzzled us a lot, because in Chinese “yellow” means not only a simple color but also symbolized the degeneracy, especially for the pornographic; and in English “yellow” often means the low-grade or inferior news and humble and the international generally used yellow for the cab, this is why taxi’s color is often yellow. So here “I am yellow” have two meanings: the first one is taxi and the other one is “I’m a timid person, please don’t scare me.” What’s more; the western and the eastern have different way of thinking. And we can see that the successful of understanding in the English and the American cultural become the key point of the English teaching, so teachers should let the students to know when to use the language and which form or how to express the suitable thinking of cultural in a right way; and according to the English language particularity, we should often lead in the cultural edification typically and train the students’ ability which may stimulate their passion of learning and raise the quality of education.
 Chapter 2 How to Understand the Knowledge in English Teaching
  As we known, it is not easy to teach the knowledge of culture in English teaching. The teacher should teach it on the base of understand the cultural knowledge and introduce it in a right way at different time, place or background and in order to attend the aim of the communication, the teachers should also introduce some information to the students. There are many ways to acquire this kind of knowledge and I will introduce some of my opinions with follows:
  2.1 To understand the culture in learning the vocabulary
  Vocabulary is very important to the culture; we can find the nature when we are learning the vocabulary. River once said:” if you don’t know the culture, you would never know the real meaning of the words.” There is no absolutely equivalent word between Chinese and English words, the same word may have many different meanings and sometime it may have derogatory or neutral in other kind of language which may often caused us a different psychology and imagination. So when you teach the vocabulary, you need to teach not only the real meaning of the word but also the background of the culture that something is related to the word. And in the process of teaching; first, we should combine the vocabulary with the cultural background which may good for the students and can strengthen their listening and speaking ability or their reading, writing ability, For example, the word “propaganda” in English, it means derogatory sense in many conditions; but on contrary, it is a neutral word and it means “disseminate” in many cases in Chinese. Which often used as a commendation; so if we learn the word simply, we will never master the real meaning of it; Second, the learning of the vocabulary should pay attention to the different way to express the cultural values and sometimes we need to talk in a euphemistic way; For instance, in Chinese and English there are many ways to express “death” in the way of euphemistic, but in many cases, for the difference between the west and the east, there is still the same in some occasion, just like the “age” is a sensitive topic in many western counties, people often avoid to use “old” directly to called the senile, instead they often called them “senior citizen”, that’s because “senior” and “citizen” the two words all have a respect meanings in English.
