1.Literature review
For the past few years,some researchers and professors had proposed and studied several English vocabulary learning methods for English learners,such as the method of learning words in context,root-and-affix method,etc.And these English vocabulary learning methods really play a very important role in learning English words and actually have an important effect on English vocabulary learning.However,the researchers and professors could not ignore the fact that these methods lack taking psychological factors which are more significant to English vocabulary learning into consideration.And then the thesis focuses on the psychological factors.
2.A survey about more effective English vocabulary learning methods from the perspectives of psychological factors
Survey is an effective way to investigate a definite purpose,and thus it is used in the thesis to know about the English vocabulary learning methods from the perspectives of psychological factors that the students majoring in English of Sanda University will propose and use.That will be useful and beneficial to complete the thesis.
In current years,more and more students tend to recite new English words by vocabulary-rote-learning method.And it is clear to see the meaning of the method;it is the one that a person recites new English vocabulary in an English vocabulary book or some commonly-used English words according to the 26 alphabets from “A” to “Z”.
3.English vocabulary learning methods from the psychological perspectives and suggestions based on the survey
After the analysis and interpretation of the survey,the thesis then focuses on the interpretation of these English vocabulary learning methods that are put forward by the students majoring in English of Sanda University in the survey.And it is also found that it is significant to study and interpret these English vocabulary learning methods from the perspectives of psychological factors.Moreover in order to establish a more ideal environment for students to learn English vocabulary well,some positive suggestions are also put forward for the university to improve the environment.
Conclusion
The thesis introduces some traditional English vocabulary learning methods that have been put forward and used by many related researchers and professors.And then since these methods lack taking psychological factors which are more significant to English vocabulary learning into consideration,more effective English vocabulary learning methods from the perspectives of psychological factors are put forward based on a survey among the students majoring in English of Sanda University about more effective English vocabulary learning methods.At last,the thesis analyzes these English vocabulary methods as well as gives some suggestions to universities in order that the universities can improve their environment of English vocabulary learning for English majors to learn their English well.
Although the thesis could investigate and study some English vocabulary learning methods from the perspectives of psychological factors,it can be also seen that the study in the thesis exists some defects and limitations.There were only two classes participated in this survey,that is,only 60 senior students majoring in English in Sanda University,and it was not covered the students of all grades majoring in English in the university.And thus this survey can not guarantee the reality and validity of the data that are being investigated.In addition,the students participated in this survey may have other students’ influences when they did the survey,so the researcher can not know whether these students really reflect their own opinions and views accurately in the survey.
Moreover,the current English vocabulary learning methods lack taking psychological factors into consideration.And thus it is intended to appeal more investigators or professors to study the thesis further and profoundly,as well as to touch more upon psychological factors that will have more important impacts on English vocabulary learning if they are interested in the aspect of the study.(中国东方航空股份有限公司;上海;200000)
